About this submission

There is no concept for "Mental Health" in any South Asian dialect and as a turbaned Sikh, I grew up without seeing my reality represented in the national psyche; films, TV and billboards were not there to represent the first generation of British-Asians who, like me, so desperately wished to discover our identities at such an impressionable age. My films have always challenged traditional sentiment, “Too Brown for the Crown” is a two-minute epic raging against one Sikh boy bullied for his long hair. Our film works towards the reclamation of identity.
