About this submission
The New Homes Plan is a documentary about the proposal to redevelop the redundant Fawley Power Station, into the UK’s first smart city. The film follows two residents who’s families have lived in the areas for generations; Aldred, the local estate owner and developer, and Nigel a retired bricklayer and poacher. Taking place in the lead up to the decision to grant the planning of the new city, the film explores the implication of change on the local residents and the areas changing identity. Made during the Covid-19 pandemic, the film focuses on change and people’s responses to it.
