About this submission

This short documentary takes us into the lives of three hardworking Guatemalan businesswomen who have made their way out of poverty using microloans and business education offered by the non-profit Namaste Direct. They share their stories, dreams, and hopes for their children's future with high school students who helped finance these services. We meet Dora the tortilla maker, Carmen who hopes to market her dietary bread in American stores, and Lesbia, who for the past 17 years has risen before dawn to sell handmade chuchitos to help her children receive the education she wished she could have had.
