About this submission

“Idle Hands” is a short experimental film focusing on the migration of the Pakistani and Jamaican community to Greater Manchester after the 1950’s where they were involved in the textiles trade and mill work. Exploring how our communities have tried to develop and rebuild through manual labour and businesses after deindustrialisation, as well as the effects of generational poverty leading to crime and unemployment. The film is narrated by a poem written by the filmmaker.
