About this submission
I want to show the psychological process behind chasing after the Olympic dream. As a member of the Canadian National Team of Rhythmic Gymnastics for 4 years, my goal was to make the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The emotional/mental/physical abuse is rarely talked about in high performance sports. The pursuit of the Olympic dream traps athletes in a bubble where reality is altered. Where things that are punishable in the normal world become normal (eg. Larry Nassar case 2016). I want to show people what it feels like psychologically, to pursue this expensive dream.
