Born in Red Bank, New Jersey, Evan Deng is a 21-year old queer Chinese/Japanese-American writer/director/editor based in Los Angeles.
A recent graduate from the University of Michigan with a BA in Film, Television, and Media, Deng has edited and produced a variety of narrative short films, commercial advertisements, and promotional videos. In addition to working with various university departments (Ross, Kinesiology, Nursing, Chemistry, Spring Commencement, Marching Band), Deng also worked with a multitude of businesses, organizations, and startups (BME, Survivor Mom’s Companion, Michigan Sports Business Administration).
In addition to his experience in commercial work and film editing, Deng has directed a number of award-winning short films (ANACHRONISM, SHUTTER, Q) and has written several features (OVERSATURATED, SLAY!, A LITTLE TOKYO HORROR STORY) that have placed in the Austin Film Festival, Scriptalooza, etc.
Deng had also previously interned at Hivemind Entertainment and currently works as a Senior Editor for Outloud Media, a byte-sized social media startup based in Detroit. In his free time, Deng paints and plays guitar with his Bernese Mountain mix Mako. more...
