About this submission
This film is an attempt to deconstruct the relationships that we take for granted. Our hope is that when something as fundamental as speech is taken from a relationship, old habits and social constructions that dictate familial roles become visible. Errol’s struggle to live his life on his own terms happens alongside Earl’s struggle to find his role in his father’s home. Earl has to conceive of his father as a human being now that the power dynamics have shifted and Errol has moved on from his archetypal role as patriarch.
