About this submission

Approached by Black womxn activists organizing for BLM Boston during summer 2020's uprisings for racial justice, I wanted to offer my filmmaking skills to amplify their work re-defining politics in an abolitionist gaze. I am deeply interested in understanding how relationships are built to transcend the limits of time and space, and the activist featured, Stacey Borden, does so by naming a halfway house in honor of an incarcerated woman, Kimya Foust. The video was made for screening on Boston Common after a daylong march on July 4 and put online to support their ongoing work.
