About this submission
I tell stories about characters that people may at first judge with a preconceived notion, to then be surprised by how similar we are to them.
Folks from rural settings especially are misunderstood and largely desire the same things we do –– yet are often misrepresented. The rodeo is a community event that is especially embedded in rural American culture and its members often return for their entire lives. I assume the bulk foundation of that loyalty is formed at a young age. To explore my assumption, I examine a few boys at the rodeo.
