Hi, my name is Jess Costa! I became entranced with film when I was 11 years old, and have been playing with it ever since. To me, filmmaking is like make-believe for adults and keeps part of childhood alive. Similarly, most of my films are fantastical in nature. Ultimately, I direct & write because it’s cathartic; I hope that my work can help others achieve some catharsis as well. I use surreal worlds to create a more digestible layer to talk about issues like addiction and mental illness. I want to make films to help people heal and to feel like they're not alone as they process this crazy thing called life.
Costa graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Her directorial work has premiered in film festivals like Nasty Women Unite Fest and The Big Apple Film Festival.
